How to Edit the website
The pages below show how to do specific tasks, once you've done them a few times they will become second nature. These instructions are just to get you started. Please add pages to these with additional instructions or corrections as you see fit.
Add a Blog entry to your blog
A blog is a your place to post articles, action alerts, or other information that is important to you and you want to share with other democrats.
- On the right hand side bare, click 'Create Content'
- click 'Blog Entry'
- Fill in the title
- Fill in the body with a the detailed article (this can be cotent copyed and pasted from a website)
- Press 'Submit'
Add a link to the link page
You can use this procedure to edit any webpage.
- select the 'Resouces' menu and click the 'Links' menu item.
- click on the link page where you want your link to go
- click the 'Edit' tab
- Fill in the changes you want : Add the url of the site (can turn it into a link with the link symbol)
- Press the 'Submit' button
Add an Event
- On the right hand side bare, click 'Create Content'
- click 'Event'
- Fill in the date/time information
- Fill in the body with a detailed description (this can be cotent copyed and pasted from a website)
- If its a washco event you can optionally click under 'Publishing Options' and check 'Promoted to Front Page'. This will make the announcement appear on the main page of the website. (Do this only for WashCo dem or other importanr county wide event.
- Optionally under 'File Attachment' you can press browse and upload a leaflet or other file that provides more information.
- press 'Submit'
Add an Image
- On the right hand side bare, click 'Create Content'
- click 'Image'
- Fill in the title
- Click 'Browse' and select the image file that you want to upload.
- select the 'Image Gallery' where you want the image placed.
Before you upload an image you need to make sure it is no more than 1-200K bytes in size. You can do shrink a large image file with the Paint program.
- Open the file you want to edit with the 'Paint' Program. (Right click the file and Open with 'Paint').
- click the 'Image' menu
- select 'Stretch/Shew'
- set The Horizontal and Vertical settings to 20% (This will reduce a 1 mega byte image file to under 100 kilo bytes)
- press 'File', 'Save As' and save it as a 'JPEG' file type
- Then you can upload the image.
Create a new Forum Topic
A Forums are a place to discuss issues with your fellow democrats. You can create a new forum topic or comment on an existing topic.
- On the top menu, click 'Forums'
- click 'Post New Forum Topic'
- Fill in the subject and body.
- Place your topic in the correct topic area by clicking on the 'Forum' list.
- You can option click to 'Subscribe' to the forum which will send you an email notice when someone adds a comment to your forum.
- Press 'Submit'
Edit the House District Webpage
You can use this procedure to edit any webpage. House distirct leaders will mainly want to keep their house district page up to date.
- select the 'Get Active' menu and click the 'State House Distict' menu item.
- click on the house district you want to edit
- click the 'Edit' tab
- Fill in the changes you want
- Press the 'Submit' button
